Kellie Pickler chats about her gorgeous wedding dress

We're willing to bet Kellie Picker has been grinning from ear-to-ear recently - the beautiful woman not only wed her hot man of more than two years, Kyle Jacobs, but she also got hitched in a seriously stunning wedding dress!

The former American Idol contestant spoke with about how the designers who created her gorgeous gown were right on the money with its cut, style and overall look.

"I really didn't ask for anything at all," she told the news outlet. "They just took such great care of me and did it all. I just stood there and instantly fell in love with it."

We can see why Kellie was especially pleased with how things turned out. Her strapless getup, which featured a sweetheart neckline and appeared to be made from both silk and tulle, hugged the top of her body and allowed the young lady to show off her super-slim body.

Of course, it was the gown's skirt that most people will remember forever. The creation featured an elegant poofy bottom, allowing the woman to seem like royalty. Who would think that the cutest country bumpkin on television would someday turn into a princess?

Gold is the head-turning color of the season

Gals who want to get noticed often opt for red ensembles - the crimson hue is guaranteed to turn heads. However, when every woman shows up in similar shades, each lady is likely to feel a little less eye-catching.

Instead of choosing scarlet the next time you want a little more attention, why not go for a gold semi-formal dress?

"The value of gold is on the rise - and not without reason. Both finance and fashion types delight in the universally flattering glow," Marie Claire magazine reports. "While 24-karat baubles and bangles have long been a jewelry box standby, the classic metallic is currently enjoying a ready-to-wear Renaissance."

The publication suggests sporting a sparkly minidress or a puffer vest. However, you should avoid wearing too much gold. If you are rocking a metallic getup, wear minimal jewelry and neutral-colored accessories.

You should also refrain from applying cosmetics that contain too much shimmer. Opt for a lip gloss with a subtle sheen or a matte eyeshadow for a sultry, smoky eye.

Here's some gorgeous gold dresses we carry!

How to dress an athletic physique

Now that the New Year is here, many women may be picking up a gym membership to honor a resolution. And while working out can lead to a leaner physique, some ladies may add muscle to their frame as well. However, dressing for an athletic build can be a bit tricky.

"The key to getting your fashion correct has to do with the harmony and balance of three key elements: silhouette, proportion and fit," fashion guru Tim Gunn wrote in Marie Claire magazine.

If you want your muscular figure to retain its womanly appeal, you may want to look for a silhouette that enhances your curves.

"If you choose a dress, I recommend wrap styles because they can be adjusted to accommodate the particulars of your shape, and they're feminizing too," Gunn wrote.

The fashion expert also warns athletically built women to steer clear of menswear, boxy and oversize styles, as the proportion and fit aren't as flattering.

Regardless of your shape, if you are looking for a formal dress, get online and start your search early - you'll want to leave ample time for processing and delivery.

Ladies getting married this year are likely scouring the internet for dress ideas. Luckily, they now have some direction while shopping. recently compiled a list of trends to look for in 2011, and their prediction regarding gowns is bound to be adored by women everywhere.

"Wedding dress designers draped, ruched, and layered clouds of tulle, power netting and chiffon to fashion whimsical wedding dresses with limitless volume this runway season," the news outlet reports. "The outcome? Fairytale-inspired bridal style and whimsical wedding dresses for 2011 I Dos."

This, of course, means that the princess-style ball gown is back! Once reserved for royalty and Disney characters, brides around the world should now feel free to show it off loud and proud.

Why Shop Early?

Many dresses sell out during prom season so for best selection – shop early! From December to February, prom dresses begin arriving in prom and bridal stores. You'll have the largest selection of prom dresses if you shop during those early months of prom season. These dresses are made in China and many are handbeaded. They take about 8-10 weeks to special order because of the handwork. During the early months of the year, China celebrates their Chinese New Year and their factories are closed for 2-3 weeks. No prom dresses are produced during the celebration weeks. If dresses are ordered right before or during their holiday, that adds about 2-3 weeks to the production time.

If you have an early prom in March or April, you should shop very early if you have a favorite prom designer such as Sherri Hill, Terani, Jovani, Blush or our new lines like Jasz Couture or Crush you want to wear for your prom. In prom stores, try on different styles to discover your favorite look. Or if you are shopping and plan to order online at, take accurate measurements to get the best fit as formal dresses usually run small. Alterations are important for a perfect fit so don’t be discouraged if your dress doesn’t fit you perfectly. Purchasing your prom dress as early as possible will allow time for alterations and fittings. Buy your jewelry, shoes and other accessories at the same time to completely coordinate your prom look. After you are all done with shopping and alterations you can relax and enjoy dreaming about your big night! Have a great time!

Style advice from a DJ

While it can be fun getting style tips from celebrities and their team of experts, sometimes it's just as beneficial to get some advice from real women. Recently, DJ Chelsea Leyland spoke to Marie Claire about her fashion philosophy.

"Don't think of black as basic," Leyland told the news source. "To me, it's the most exciting color. It brings out who you are more than any other color." For her photoshoot in the publication, she rocked a poofy black semi-formal dress and personalized it with military boots and stacks of silver bangles.

Leyland was also photographed wearing a black tank, a gray miniskirt and a pair of killer zebra-print heels. Though she spends hours on her feet, the beautiful woman said that she rarely sets foot outside of the house without stylish stilettos.

Gals can also reinvent an outfit or give new life to an old LBD by pairing pieces with different accessories.

"I find that adding cool tights or a different jacket is the easiest way to change up a look," she added.

Jewelry can make an outfit

While accessories are often afterthoughts, they can also be the starting point of a great ensemble. In fact, if you have a necklace or bracelet you really like, you may want to put it on before you select a semi-formal dress.

"When I get dressed, I'll start with an accessory, then put a look together very quickly," jewelry designer Ranjana Khan told Marie Claire magazine. "You can't be afraid of big, bold pieces. Just don't think so much about it. Look in the mirror, and if you're happy with the end result, head out the door."

Khan also advises women not to be afraid of wearing formal dresses in the daytime, as long as they are paired with casual accessories.

"I dress to please me. I like wearing evening in the daytime. The trick is to incorporate at least one dressed-down piece," Khan told the publication. "For instance, I'll wear a full-on embroidered, metal-studded skirt with a tank that's a sleep shirt. The tank washes down the skirt but still allows it to dance and sing."

Pair socks with your semi-formal dress

"With the colder weather here, a new trend is on the horizon. While many women may be used to pairing their semi-formal dresses and skirts with tights, some of the hottest designers are advising ladies to switch to socks.

"For fall, there were a lot of A-line, '50s-style skirts, and ankle socks with a small, 1-inch heel gave a new look to the '50s feel," stylist Elle Werlin told "The socks add a twist to a lot of inspiration from the past."

However, women who want to rock this trend should consider the length and hue of their socks.

"What I think is really lovely is a little longer sock, but ruched down a little bit. Anklets and sheer knee-highs work best," industry expert Alison Hessert told the news source.

Gals should also stick to neutral-colored fabrics and wear socks that match the hue of their shoes in order to elongate legs.

Ladies searching for the perfect formal dress to complete this look can shop online. You can peruse hundreds of garments at the touch of a button, until you find the piece that suits you perfectly!"

Match your veil to your wedding dress' silhouette

"When putting together your wedding day ensemble, much attention is paid to the dress. However, there is one important element that should not be ignored - your veil! This special headpiece can turn any white gown into a true wedding dress.

But with the wide variety of veils available, which one is right for you? Use your gown as a guide and select a veil that complements the silhouette to create a truly breathtaking wedding day getup.

According to Brides magazine, a cathedral veil features a long train that cascades at least 10 feet from the headpiece. This regal veil is best paired with a princess-style ball gown.

A flyaway veil is the complete opposite - a short, multi-layered piece that falls to your shoulders and is retro, fun and flirty. The publication recommends wearing this veil with a '50s-style garment, such as an item with an off-the-shoulder bodice and a slightly poufy skirt.

A structured strapless wedding dress, however, may look best coupled with a waterfall veil, which is short in the front and gets longer as it flows down your back - the magazine reports that the veil's fluid detail will soften the stiff silhouette."
