How to look thin in a formal dress

"Women are always trying to fit into a smaller semi-formal dress, no matter what size they may be. Can't we just be thrilled with the skin were in?

Believe it or not, girls can take a few steps in order to appear slimmer in a formal dress without starving themselves in the process. In fact, Fox News reports that looking as though you've shed a few pounds starts with one's undergarments.

"A perfect-fitting bra can help define your waist and make you look taller and slimmer by giving you the lift and support you need," the news source reports.

Also, women shouldn't hesitate to shop around for cuts and styles that suit their figure best. From A-line formal dresses to mermaid gowns, the options are endless.

And, experts recommend ladies remember the go-to cut for every body type - empire dresses.

"What makes this shape so flattering is that it's relaxed but still creates a clean line, it emphasizes the ribcage - a slim spot on almost everyone, and conceals the tummy," according to the news outlet."

  1. I always look for your empire gowns since my waist is a little too thick. I love the info you put out there! I have also learned that alteration can help a short girl like me get a better fit, so I don't worry so much about it fitting perfect off the rack.
