Mardi Gras is coming!

Mardi Gras is a time for celebration! It is held on the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday. This year it is on February 16. Balls and parties abound! So you want to be sure you are dressed appropriately, especially if you are attending a formal event. TJ Formal is here to help!

Most Mardi Gras balls require formal attire. For women, this means floor-length formal dresses. Remember, you will be dancing! So dresses should allow movement and not be too tight. Traditionally, the Mardi Gras dances require fairly conservative formal wear. Dresses should not have midriffs showing or cutouts, or be too low-cut.

The traditional Mardi Gras colors are purple, gold, and green. Purple represents Justice; Green represents Faith, and Gold represents Power. Perhaps you will want to use one of these meanings to choose your color of dress.

Men should wear a black tuxedo, black tie, and well-shined shoes.

Accessories for women include high heels, and luxurious jewelry. Nothing too gaudy or overly-done, but stylish and graceful necklaces, bracelets, and earrings that complement your elegant evening gown. Here are some very tasteful suggestions.
