Prom Trend: Print Dresses

One of the hottest trends this year are dresses with prints. Stripes, swirls, flowers, lots of eye-catching designs. Can't decide on a color of dress? Pick a pattern that has several colors in it, then accessorize with solids.

Here's a gown from designer Tony Bowls, Paris 2009 Prom Dress 19706. It has a yellow lining and print that provides a lot of movement for the eye. It almost looks like it's marbled.
These shoes Liliana Footwear "Diva", are a great match for this dress and the jewels on the low back.

This retro dress, Jovani 2009 Prom Dress 196527,has a sculpted neckline that matches the print.

Black accessories are a must! While you won't need a necklace with this dress, these Jet earrings are a perfect match!
And these Alisha Hill black shoes with rhinestone butterflies would be so cute with this dress!

Bling Bling!!

Some of the most gorgeous dresses this season have big, bold jewels on them. What a perfect way to make a glamorous statement when you walk into your prom. You'll find jewels on straps, front and back, waistlines, bodices, and as edged accents. Here's a few shining examples.

This dress from Sherri Hill, Style 2013, has the bling going all the way from front to the sexy low back.
Here's one from Jovani, Style 155201, with jewels and beading around the bodice - very sophisticated! Tony Bowls always has fabulous dresses and this is just one of them. Available in both short or long versions, it has a jewel-encrusted thick waistline. STUNNING!!And lastly, do not forget jewels for your ears and wrists! A bracelet and earrings are the perfect accent to a jeweled dress. They won't compete with the dress, but will complete your look for prom.

From big and chunky to small and delicate, jewels sparkle and draw attention to YOU on your big night!

Why should you SHOP EARLY for your prom dress?

Many dresses sell out during prom season so for best selection – shop early! From December to February, prom dresses begin arriving in prom and bridal stores. You'll have the largest selection of prom dresses if you shop during those early months of prom season. These dresses are made in China and many are handbeaded. They take about 8-10 weeks to special order because of the handwork. During the early months of the year, China celebrates their Chinese New Year and their factories are closed for 3-4 weeks. No prom dresses are produced during the celebration weeks. If dresses are ordered right before or during their holiday, that adds about 3-4 weeks to the production time.

If you have an early prom in March or April, you should shop very early if you have a favorite prom designer such as Sherri Hill, Terani, Flirt or Alyce Designs you want to wear for your prom.

Choosing the Right Prom Dress for Your Body Type

Shopping for a prom dress is one of the most fun parts of high school. However, if you don't know what you're looking for it can quickly turn into a not so fun experience. Most girls don't know that it's not only the prom dress that matters, but also the way the dress fits your body. We've put together some advice that will hopefully make your prom dress shopping experience exciting and fun!

If you have an hourglass figure, show off your curvy figure with a form fitting dress. If you aren't totally comfortable with your curves, go with an A-line skirt or a ballgown with a cinched waist to cover up your wider parts. Jovani 2009 Prom Dress 1551756 is perfect for showing off your curves and animal prints are HOT this year!

If you are full figured, look for slimming styles that won't cling to every curve. A-line dresses that slim through the waist are a good choice. Ballgowns with a corset bodice or tight fitting waist are also a good choice. Mori Lee 2009 Prom Dress 8112 is an excellent choice and sure to make you feel like a princess.

If you have a pear shaped body, try and A-line dress or an empire waistline. Ballgowns are also a great choice for pear shaped bodies. Flatter your best assets with dresses that accentuate the bodice and flow loosely over your body. Night Moves 2009 Prom Dress 5815 is perfect for drawing attention to your bustline and flowing over the body.
